SCHOOL-PLACEMENTS FOR BAVARIAN STUDENTS IN THE UK
The Bavarian Youth Council has been organizing and coordinating international student exchanges and placements for English speaking students from Bavaria in UK schools commissioned by the Bavarian State Ministry of Education, Cultural Affairs, Science and Art for more then 20 years.
This programme has enabled hundreds of young Germans to stay with carefully selected host families scattered throughout the North of the U.K.. A large number of different schools have benefited from a unique intercultural experience and many close international friendships.
Due to this great success we are looking to also offer school placements in the South of The UK.
Our applicants have to be 15 or 16 years old and are required to present a recommendation from his/her Bavarian school. This programme is suitable for mature students who are outgoing, tolerant and open for new encounters and experiences.
We have learnt that host families who have once accepted a young person from abroad as a proper family member are happy to do it again. This is an excellent way for a family to make meaningful friendships and maintain ongoing contact with both the young person they have hosted and also their family in Germany.
Students will have to assume costs for board (£100 per week), school transportation and leisure activities. Each child should have his/her own bedroom, but other than that he or she is expected to share in the normal life of the host family, taking their turn with everyone else in the house.
